A total of 186 bus stops will be replaced in the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia and its four Municipal Districts, the Municipality announced.
As reported, the installation of the stops began on Tuesday, January 21st by the Paralimni Municipal District and will continue in all Municipal Districts. "These are modern stops which will use telematics with real-time bus arrival information," it is added.
The installation of the stops, it is added, is being implemented within the framework of the SUMP program. According to the announcement, the Municipality's goal is to complete the installation of 72 bus stops "which are unfortunately in a poor condition in the tourist area of Protaras before the start of the tourist season."
Subsequently, "the remaining 114 bus stops in the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia and in the four Municipal Districts will be replaced. The placement of the new stops is expected to offer a new experience to the traveling public, while at the same time, with the use of Public Transport, the reduction of traffic and pollution caused by bus exhaust gases will be achievable."
According to the announcement, the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia is in full cooperation with the Famagusta Railway Company with the aim of constructing a transfer station, something that, as it says, "the state must promote as it did in other cities in Cyprus."
The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia "expresses its gratitude to the Department of Public Works and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works for the cooperation and installation of the stops which will serve the public who use the buses daily."
