An impressive spectacle was offered to dozens of citizens, the 10th Solar Vehicle Race organized by the Cyprus Institute in collaboration with the Municipality of Nicosia, in the heart of the capital.
Ten prototype solar vehicles designed and built by pupils and students, with collectors that absorb solar radiation by feeding the engines with energy, crossed the main streets of Nicosia in a different confrontation with only the sun as an ally.
Winner emerged the team of the Regional Technical and Agricultural School of Avgoros with the Hyperion 3 vehicle, the second place conquered the team of the Technical School of Paralimni with the Quantum Leap vehicle, while tThe team of the Regional Technical and Agricultural School of Avgoros won the third place with the Hyperion 1. The award for best design went to the LAV, the team of the Apostolos Barnabas High School. Honorary prizes were given to all the teams that participated in the race.
The Solemn Ceremony of awarding the winners took place in the courtyard of the Old Town Hall of Nicosia and the awards were presented on behalf of the Mayor of Nicosia, the Municipal Councilor Chrysanthos Fakas. The teams of the Regional Technical and Agricultural School of Avgoros, the Technical School of Agios Lazaros Larnaca, the Technical School of Paralimni, the Hellenic School of Pascal and Pascal English School, the Technical School of Larnaca, the Lyceum of Apostolos Barnasos and the team of Sun participated in the race. .
