Two-day detention for a 50-year-old and a 37-year-old for theft of Protaras

The Famagusta District Court on Wednesday issued a detention order for a period of two days, against two persons aged 50 and 37, who were arrested on Tuesday in connection with an investigated theft case as well as illegal stay in the Republic.

It is recalled that according to the Police, around 12:30 yesterday at noon, information was received by the Police, that two unknown persons committed a theft from a store located in Protaras.

Members of the Police immediately went to the scene, where they located a 32-year-old man, who restrained the two suspects until the arrival of the Police. As it turned out, these are 50-year-olds and 37-year-olds from Georgia, who have been living illegally in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus since March 2018.

The two men were subsequently arrested on warrants and remanded in custody to facilitate investigations.

The value of the stolen property amounts to 855 euros.

The Paralimni Police Station continues the examinations.
