With a new announcement, the Mayor of Paralimni returns to the controversial issue of offers for water sports on the beaches of Protaras announced by the Municipality of Paralimni, after the protest organized by entrepreneurs-owners of water sports in the presence of President Anipedimos Paralimniou, Abraham Moulazimi-Americanou, who according to information seems to have reported to the Police Theodoros Pyrillis for the way in which the offers have been announced by the Mayor and members of the Municipal Council.

As Theodoros Pyrillis explains in his announcement, citing letters from the Auditor General, the Attorney General, the Central Beach Committee as well as a legal opinion given to the KEP, which strengthen its position, the Municipality of Paralimni acted on the basis of the who characterize the regulations voted by the Parliament for necessary experience of five years in the specific point as illegal.

The announcement of the Mayor of Paralimni is as follows:
In the last few days, a lot has been made public regarding the offers announced by the Municipality of Paralimni for water sports. Affected people shout, demonstrate and protest about the offers. They invoke abuse of power. Some even made complaints.
Where there is disagreement: According to the regulations voted by the Parliament, in the offers there must be provision that the bidders must have 5 years of experience in the SPECIFIC point where they will submit a bid.

The above provision of the regulations, was judged by the Competent Authority which is the Central Committee of Beaches (KEP), by the Audit Office, by the Legal Service and by independent lawyers that it is contrary to the European Law and the Cypriot Legislation and that it should NOT is applied and included in the offers, because with their inclusion the offers are photographic and only the existing ones that operate on the beaches can submit an offer.
Some insist that this provision be included so that the way is open only for specific, existing ones to be able to submit bids.
The Municipality of Paralimni is not going to make it illegal for anyone and to serve anyone. I repeat, the beaches are not for anyone. I present the instructions of the Central Beach Committee, the positions of the Audit Office, the Opinion of the Attorney General and the opinion of the Central Beach Committee by an independent lawyer, who clearly give instructions, such as the offers to be public and that the provision for 5 years of experience at this point NOT to be included because it is illegal.
