Meeting with the Swimming and Open Sea Director of the European Swimming Federation Mr. Apostolos Tsangarakis recently had the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia Mr. George Nicolettos.
During the meeting, also present were Mrs. Maria Loizidou, General Director of the Cyprus Swimming Federation, Mr. Petros Aresti, Superintendent of Swimming, the President of the Nautical Club of Constantia, Mr. Giorgos Kythraiotis, Mr. Iakovos Hatjikonstantinou, Swimming Superintendent and Representative at KOEK as well as Mr. Giorgos Houzouris, head coach of Constantias Group.
During the meeting, the great success of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia, which has been selected by the European Swimming Federation to be one of the five European cities that will host the Open Sea Cup in 2025, was discussed. The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia will host the premiere of the event which will take place on May 3, 2025 in the idyllic waters of Fig Tree Bay Beach.
The Mayor, Mr. Giorgos Nicolettos thanked both the European and the Cyprus Swimming Federation for choosing Protaras for the European event, stressing that this is a particularly important success for the Municipality which, after the successful organization of the Mediterranean Swimming Games last October, proved that it can to attract European as well as World-level events to the blue and uniquely beautiful waters of Protaras.
The representatives of the European and Cyprus Swimming Federation thanked Mr. Nicoletto for the support, pointing out that Protaras is a particularly attractive destination for similar type of international events.
It is pointed out that Protaras will share the five legs of the European competition with 4 other cities, Setubal (Portugal), Barcelona (Spain), Paris (France) and Ražanac (Croatia).
