The Christmas Lighting event of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia was successfully held on the afternoon of Sunday, November 24, 2024, in the square of Agios Georgios in Paralimni.
The event included a parade with the Emilia Salouta Cheerleaders, a musical program by Aria School of Fine Arts and a dance performance by Art de Ballet – Adamantini Kosma and Passion Dance School – Elena Tofa.
Subsequently, the Mayor and the members of the Municipal Council carried out the Lighting of the Christmas Tree as part of the Pan-Cypriot campaign of the EAC and the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association "Give Light to a Life", in the presence, among others, of the Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta, the Police Director of Famagusta and representatives of the EAC and the Anti-Cancer Association of Cyprus.
The program culminated with a concert with Konstantinos Christoforou and the EMU.
In the area there were stands of organized groups, charitable organizations and other individuals.
During his greeting, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia thanked all those who worked tirelessly for the implementation of the special event and especially the civil and labor staff of the Municipality as well as the members of the Municipal Council and the Culture Committee.
He made a special mention to the Cyprus Electricity Authority, on the occasion of the campaign of the EAC and the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Association "Give Light to a Life", emphasizing the great importance and corresponding savings of the important agreement to replace the street lighting with economical LED technology.
He pointed out, at the same time, that Christmas is not only a festive season but an opportunity to leave behind everything that separates us and to come closer to each other and an occasion to stand closer and support our fellow man who pulls his own calvary.
