The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia expresses its particular satisfaction with the actions of the Minister of Interior regarding the enforcement of legality in a property within the Beach Protection Zone in Protaras, in a case of illegality whose restoration responsibility belonged to the District Administration.
However, it was regrettable that the impression was indirectly but clearly cultivated in the media that the Municipality had the responsibility to enforce legality. The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia, both through legal opinions and relevant correspondence, had repeatedly addressed the competent departments, requesting the immediate implementation of the prescribed procedures for the restoration of legality.
Today, in the clearest possible manner, the Ministry of Interior called on the Famagusta District Governor to proceed with the removal of the illegalities, as the issue falls within his exclusive competence. This development fully justifies the position and actions of the Municipality.
Such reports and actions against the Municipality create an unnecessary waste of valuable time, which should be utilized for the benefit of the citizens and the local community.
The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia will continue with consistency and dedication its efforts to upgrade the area and defend legality. This is a permanent obligation towards the residents and the development perspective of the area itself.
