The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia immediately asks the Government to intervene regarding the staffing of the Famagusta Hospital with a Nephrologist.
Now the nephrology unit essentially operates with one Nephrologist, as the second Nephrologist covers another province (3 days a week). The consequences of these actions endanger the lives of the patients themselves.
We regret to note that despite the Government's commitments to the Famagusta Hospital's Hemodialysis Unit, the patients nevertheless feel that their lives come second.
The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia requests the immediate intervention of the Minister of Health in order to find permanent and binding solutions for the benefit of all patients of the free province of Famagusta.
As a Municipality we are concerned and consider that the provision of health services is a fundamental right of every citizen and we have a moral obligation to protect our citizen patients who are in a vulnerable situation.
Our citizens are not second-class citizens of the Republic of Cyprus. We demand equal rights, equal treatment and equal access to health services.
