A touching surprise awaited the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia as Professor of Modern History and former Ambassador of Cyprus to Greece Dr. George Georgis announced to the Mayor that he would donate his entire collection of books to the Municipality.
Specifically, Dr. George Georgis announced to the Mayor that his wish is to donate his collection of more than 13 thousand books to the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia, provided that a Library is created in Paralimni to house them.
Mr. Nikolettos expressed his warm thanks and his emotion towards Mr. Georgis, stating that this is the most beautiful gift that the Municipality has received since the day he took office. He also emphasized that the Municipality is promoting an important project in Paralimni with the creation of a Cultural Multi-venue and specifically the design of a large theater, open-air amphitheater, conference center, library and art gallery, which is expected to be a cultural center not only for the entire Famagusta district but also for Cyprus in general.
At the same time, he expressed his gratitude to Mr. George, not only for the donation of 13 thousand books but also for his many years of work and enormous contribution to the literature and history of his hometown, Paralimni.
