The inauguration of the new roundabout at the intersection of Protaras - Kavo Gkreko Avenue and Thali Street took place with all due solemnity on Friday, June 26, 2026, in the presence of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, representatives of the State, local authorities and a large number of invited guests.
In his greeting, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos, described the project as of particular importance for road safety, traffic congestion and the overall upgrade of the tourist area of Protaras, noting that from the first days of its operation it has proven its necessity and effectiveness.
The Mayor emphasized that the completion of the project before the start of the tourist season is a significant success, as it contributes substantially to improving the daily lives of residents, professionals and thousands of visitors to the area.
At the same time, he expressed his warm thanks to the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, the Department of Public Works and all those who contributed to the implementation of the project, emphasizing that the close cooperation between the central government and the Municipality has already yielded important infrastructure projects that enhance the development of the region.
He made special mention of the former Director of the Public Works Department, Mr. Lefteris Eleftheriou, whom he thanked for his long-standing and substantial cooperation with the Municipality, as well as the Municipal Technical Service and the project contractor for its timely and successful completion.
In closing, the Mayor pointed out that upgrading infrastructure is a key pillar of the Municipality's development strategy and the "Protaras Riviera" tourist identity, aiming for a modern, safe and quality destination for residents and visitors.
