An event dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the start of the EOKA National Liberation Struggle 1955-59 was held by the Management, teaching staff and students of the Technical and Vocational School of Education and Training of Paralimni on the evening of Thursday, April 3, 2025.
The event honored the families of the fallen heroes of Kokkinochoria.
The Mayor of Paralimni-Dheryne, in his greeting, underlined the invaluable contribution of the Famagusta district and especially of Kokkinochoria to the national liberation struggle. As he mentioned, the heroes of the region did not lack in anything; they were pioneers, symbols of courage and self-denial, and their figures constitute bright beacons and role models for future generations.
He pointed out that their names are written indelibly in the golden pages of the history of the Cyprus Struggle and that we all bow with gratitude before their families. Through their own faces, he said, every fighter and martyr who offered his blood and life for freedom is honored.
He expressed his deep gratitude, emphasizing that their struggle and sacrifice are not forgotten, but live on in every free breath of the people and in every step towards a better future.
