The Youth of Paralimni invites us to an open discussion where we can share our ideas and suggestions for the future of our lake. Together we can transform the Lake into a point of reference for our community and future generations. To create a space of life, knowledge and respect for our natural environment.
Lake Paralimni is a unique natural treasure.
It hosts rare and impressive birds such as the Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus), the Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea), the Eurasian Curlew (Plegadis falcinellus) and the Moorhen (Porzana porzana).
Also noteworthy is the fact that the rare endemic water snake of Cyprus, the Natrix natrix cypriaca, lives here — a unique subspecies that has been recorded almost exclusively in the lake area.
Protecting and enhancing this ecosystem is everyone's responsibility. Various volunteer groups and environmental organizations are working to preserve this beauty – now is the time for you to get involved.
