The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia expresses its strong reaction through its announcement to the provocative actions of a pseudo-state and Turkey for the illegal settlement of the occupied Lower Deryneia.
This announcement:
"The announced intention, by the Turkish President himself, to build 1192 houses in occupied Deryneia, at a distance of only seven hundred meters from the free areas, to the left of the Deryneia - Famagusta road, for the purposes of housing people from Turkey, is yet another disaster violation of International Law and human rights in Cyprus, which Turkey has been committing in Cyprus since 1974. It concerns the flagrant violation of the property rights of displaced persons as well as attempted settlement, a war crime, which does not have a statute of limitations.
The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia:
● Condemns with abhorrence the intention of the occupying regime to colonize the occupied Deryneia.
● He finds particularly provocative the intention to finance illegal development from the proceeds of the usurpation of Greek Cypriot properties in occupied Cyprus, as reported by the press.
● He intends to engage in an information campaign about the intentions of the occupying regime, both internationally and at the European level, and he will seek to make reports even to the European Committee of the Regions.
● He is ready to assist any relevant reaction actions of the government of the Republic of Cyprus.
It may be that the Turkish illegalities, which have been committed for fifty years, are aimed at perpetuating the achievements of the occupation, however, this year, on the fiftieth anniversary of the Turkish invasion, we call on everyone to declare more strongly our unwavering position to continue the struggle for the liberation of all of our occupied territories, for the liberation of Famagusta and Deryneia, through a just and sustainable solution, which will respect European and International Law and will bequeath to our children a stable, safe, peaceful and prosperous country."
