The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that on August 30, 2021 the Department of Public Works announced the project of replacement of light signaling equipment in the Provinces of Larnaca and Famagusta with modern equipment of low energy consumption (tender no. Paralimni (2) (tender no. PS / 23/2021 / S (O)).

Through the project of replacement of light signaling equipment in the provinces of Larnaca and Famagusta The equipment of traffic lights will be completely replaced in 26 light-controlled junctions and in 12 Pelican-type pedestrian crossings within the municipal borders of Larnaca and in 1 photo-controlled junction in the Municipality of Aradippou, largely covering the central urban area of Larnaca. In addition, the traffic light equipment will be replaced at 2 photo-controlled contributions in the Municipality of Ayia Napa and in 4 photo-controlled contributions in the Municipality of Paralimni.

It is also noted that through the project will be installed for the first time modern devices with audio and visual signals for the visually impaired as well as green time reversing pedestrians at all Stamatis / Grigoris type crossings and the autonomous Pelican type crossings included in the Convention. .

Through the contract, additional pedestrian crossings of the Stamatis / Grigoris type will be installed at the junctions (a) of Grigoris Afxentiou Avenue with Louki Akrita and Ermou Streets, (b) of Grigoris Afxentiou Avenue with Archbishop Athinikos and Makanikos Avenue ) and (c) of Archbishop Kyprianou Avenue with Kilkis and Zakynthos streets in Larnaca as well as in junction of Adamantiou Korai, Agiou Dimitriou and Giorki Papadopoulou streets (next to Paralimni High School) in Paralimni. The project will have a duration of 15 months and an estimated cost of € 565,000.

The object of the Study of modeling and optimization of the capacity in 17 main photo-controlled contributions in Paphos and the Paralimni concerns the simulation and design of optimal operation plans in main traffic lights, aiming at improving the efficiency of traffic lights and reducing delays as best as possible, through the implementation of small and direct low-cost interventions.
