An unparalleled experience of knowledge and culture was offered by the archaeological walk as part of the information campaign of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia for the cultural monuments of the Municipality under the title "I know my city", which took place on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in the coastal zone of Protaras. The walk took place from the "Fig Tree of Protaras" to the "Islands" area in Protaras. The action was a unique opportunity for the participants to tour places of historical and archaeological value, to listen to the narratives of the past and to discover the timeless identity of our place.
The tour was led by Dr. Angelos Smagas, who with enthusiasm, scientific documentation and dedication, conveyed to the participants a wealth of knowledge and a deep sense of respect for our cultural heritage.
The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia expresses its warmest thanks to Mr. Smagas for his excellent presentation and his contribution to the success of the action, to the Cavo Maris Beach Hotel for the generous hospitality of the participants and its continued support for cultural initiatives in the region, as well as to the Famagusta Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP) for its support of this specific action as well as for its continued support for the efforts made by the Municipality to highlight and promote its cultural wealth.
The event highlighted once again the richness of our country's history and the need to preserve and highlight it through participatory and experiential actions.
As part of the continuation of this effort, the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia is proceeding with the digital and printed publication of a complete "Archaeological Walk of Paralimni", which will bear the scientific signature of Dr. Angelos Smagas. The presentation of the project will take place on Monday, October 20, 2025, in the event hall of the City Hall.
The Municipality consistently invests in the promotion of its cultural heritage, encouraging initiatives that bring history closer to citizens and cultivate our collective memory, while similar events will be held in the other municipal districts of the Municipality.
