The ownership status of the stores is changing due to the many debts. Many of them are rented out as remnants of the crisis, others are working, but the owners have handed them over to the banks to write off their debt. According to the research of the newspaper "Phileleftheros", Bank of Cyprus, Elliniki and Altamira have a large portfolio of stores in central parts of all cities, which are looking for new owners.
These are the ones that the banks took from the owners to write off debt, or they have taken the road of sales. Sales prices can start at as low as € 50.000 for small shops and as high as one or two million for large ones.
