Angela from Paralimni at the World AeroPress Coffee Competition in Australia

Cyprus will be represented at the 15th World AeroPress Coffee Final Competition in Australia by Angela Loizia from The Coffee Roaster in Paralimni.

Angela Loizia managed to make the best coffee among 27 participants from all over Cyprus who were in Limassol and specifically at Wagmi Coffee.

Angela is all set to travel to Melbourne in December and compete alongside 50 other national champions.
Mr. Giorgos owner of The Coffee Roaster in Paralimni and Angela spoke to FamagustaNews about their experience at the competition.

Mr. Giorgos said that "we won the competition because we had a good recipe and a good barista but a lot of work has been done to get to this point. Of course, the key was Angela who, despite three years of experience in coffee, has managed with the seminars she has attended and by herself to win the competition and represent Cyprus worthily in Australia".

The winner of the competition, Angela Loizia, said that "it is a great honor for me to represent Cyprus in the competition. I am a little nervous but not about the competition but about the trip. At the competition we will meet people who love good coffee, we will get experiences and learn new methods".

Angela didn't expect to win the competition but the cafe owner thought they would after he tasted her coffee.

"After the first round when I had seen the other contestants and what they had made I believed in her and told her so. She was a little nervous in the first round, but I told her, Angela, it's a game and we'll win."

Angela Loizia has been involved in the coffee profession for three years and it was the second time she participated in the AeroPress Coffee competition.

She describes the process she went through to make the perfect coffee in the competition. "Initially we all had the same coffee, we made our own water recipe, then we chose the coffee grind and the grams. The time we were given to make the coffee was 5 minutes."
