This year's Isaac-Solomos Memorial March to be held by the Memorial Initiative will be differentiated
Speaking on the show "Mera Mesimeri", the Representative of the Initiative, Andreas Pettemeridis, stated that with respect to the epidemiological data, the memory of the two heroes will be honored as it deserves.
This year's memorial procession will consist of a limited number of participants, with only 100 people symbolically starting a journey from the hideout of Grigoris Afxentiou where they will spend the night with a procession full of importance.
The aim of this symbolic act is to highlight the historical continuity, and the fact that "these people gave the most sacred, their own lives so that we can be here today".
In another highly symbolic act, the members of the mission will carry wreaths from "Latzia", which will be picked up from the hideout where it was covered, and they will be deposited with soil in Deryneia.
This soil, as Mr. Pettemeridis noted, will be left by the parents of the heroes themselves, in the place where the two heroes were killed by the Turkish conquerors.
"We declare our presence and we will continue to be there regardless of the measures," continued Mr. Pettemeridis, who concluded that for the time being the events are clearly intended to be larger. They will even start from abroad ending in Cyprus.
The Memorial Service for the two heroic martyrs of Paralimni will be held on Sunday, August 9, from the Church of Agios Dimitrios in Paralimni.
