With particular emotion and pride, the Mayor of Paralimni-Dheryneia, together with members of the Municipality staff, the owner and director of the Marina, as well as members of its staff, welcomed the crew and the historic ship "Kyrenia Eleftheria", which was safely brought to the Marina with the assistance of a Port and Maritime Police vessel.
According to George Nicolettos, the "Kyrenia Eleftheria", which belongs to the "Kyrenia-Chrysokava" Cultural Foundation, which we thank, is a living symbol of the centuries-old maritime tradition of Cyprus, our historical memory and the unquenchable desire to return to occupied Kyrenia.
The head of the Aphrodite of Lefkolla will be transported by boat to the Fig Tree Bay area, where on Sunday, September 13, in the afternoon, a grand event will be held for its official reception.
The Mayor stated that “the presence of the “Kyrenia Eleftheria” in our region is a great honor for the Municipality of Paralimni-Dherenia. The boat will remain at the Paralimni Marina after the event, giving schools, organized groups, residents and visitors the opportunity to get to know it up close and learn its great history and symbolism.”
The Municipality of Paralimni-Dheryneia expresses its thanks to the "Kyrenia-Chrysokava" Cultural Foundation for the concession of the historic ship and the excellent cooperation, as well as to the Ministry of Justice and Public Order and the Port and Maritime Police for their assistance.
Sunday, September 13.
