The Easter events of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia continued with a traditional concert at Agios Georgios Square, which are part of the Traditional Culture Festival "Voices and Memories" organized by the Municipality from April 9 to 30, 2025.
On the evening of Easter Sunday, a concert was held with the musical group of Michalis Hadjimichael entitled "Anthology of Traditional Song". Michalis Hadjimichael's eight-member musical group participated, while Andri Karantoni, Dimitra Hadjimichael and Michalis Hadjimichael sang. The event was honored with their presence, among others, by the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry Mr. Giorgos Papanastasiou, the Director of the EAC Mr. Adonis Giasemidis, the Deputy Mayor of Frenaros Mr. Costas Michail as well as members of the Municipal Council of Paralimni - Deryneia.
In his greeting, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos, referred to the importance of organizing the Traditional Culture Festival "Voices and Memories" in terms of highlighting and preserving traditional customs. In turn, Mr. Papanastasiou congratulated the Municipality for the efforts it makes at all levels to improve the living standards of its residents and upgrade the experience of its visitors.
Easter Monday
On Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, Traditional Games will be organized in Agios Georgios Square at 4 pm. At 7 pm, the Panayrin t' Agios Georgios will take place in Agios Georgios Square in Paralimni.
The program will begin with a skating rink in the city's central streets, followed by a musical and dance performance with Greek and Cypriot traditional dances and a presentation of the play "The Traullarides". The musical program will be performed by the traditional group "Nomades", while the artistic program is curated by the Cultural Workshop "Para ti Limni". Participating are: Ensembles of the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios, the Youth Council of Paralimni and the Volleyball Academies of the Youth Union of Paralimni. There will be an exhibition of Traditional Professions at the venue with Basketry, Traditional Chair Tying, Woodcarving, Pottery, Weaving, Basketry (basket) and Smilie.
"The Panayrin of St. George" is listed on the UNESCO National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. FREE ENTRY The events take place within the framework of the Traditional Culture Festival "Voices and Memories" organized by the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia in collaboration with the Cultural Academy of Agios Epiphanios from April 9 to 30, 2025.
