PyroGuard AI uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and high-definition cameras to monitor forest, rural and urban areas 24/7. Through real-time image analysis, it detects smoke and fire in their early stages and sends immediate alerts to the relevant agencies, contributing to faster response to potential fires.
Importantly, the system does not record or store video or images, as the cameras are used exclusively for real-time analysis, ensuring respect for privacy and compliance with data protection requirements.
The system was developed by Neuranet Solutions Ltd, a Cypriot technology company based in the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia.
As a Founder Supporter of PyroGuard AI, the Municipality supported the development and implementation of the technology from the early stages, contributing to the creation of a system that is currently utilized in dozens of locations throughout Cyprus.
The first installations were carried out in the Municipality, where 15 PyroGuard AI stations are currently operating. In total, the network numbers more than 60 installations in Cyprus, while by the end of the year it is expected to exceed 150 installations in Cyprus and Greece.
The system's Control Center operates on a 24-hour basis in Paralimni, supporting all network installations through the Cosmos Wireless telecommunications network and satellite connections for remote areas.
During the past year, PyroGuard AI detected 27 real fires, while in several cases alerts were given up to an hour before the first citizen report to the Fire Department.
The use of modern technologies, such as PyroGuard AI, enhances the capabilities of early fire detection and constitutes an important tool for the protection of the environment, property and citizens.
