A Memorandum of Cooperation on cultural events was signed by the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia with the Municipality of Nicosia on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. The Memorandum was signed by the Mayor of Nicosia, Charalambos Proutzos, and the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Giorgos Nikolettos, during the press conference held at Nicosia City Hall by the Municipality of Nicosia and Nicosia For Art, to present the program of the 6th edition of the Nicosia International Festival 2025.
The implementation of the Memorandum begins through the Nicosia International Festival 2025 and will expand to an exchange of events and expertise between the bodies.
Welcoming the signing of the Memorandum, the Mayor of Nicosia, Mr. Charalambos Prountzos, stressed, among other things, that culture is for Nicosia a tool for social cohesion, a lever for development and a key priority for the next decade, building on the experience of the candidacy for the Capital of Culture. “In this spirit, he said, it is our honor to sign today the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia.”
The Mayor of Paralimni – Deryneia, Mr. George Nicolettos, stressed that the Memorandum marks a new era for the cultural life of Cyprus. The cooperation between the two Municipalities is a conscious and strategic choice that aims not only to strengthen their relations, but also to establish Cyprus as a modern regional cultural hub. “The relationship between our two Municipalities is timeless, vibrant and substantial, and today it is acquiring a new, creative orientation. I would like to “express my admiration for the Nicosia International Festival, an institution of high artistic quality and extroversion, which has contributed decisively to shaping the cultural landscape of our country,” added Mr. Nicolettos.
Greetings were also delivered by the president of Nicosia For Art, Eugenios Eugeniou, while the Artistic Director of the Festival and General Manager of Nicosia For Art, George G. Papageorgiou, presented the program of the Nicosia International Festival 2025.
