With an event held at the Municipal Hall of Paralimni - Deryneia, the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia thanked the Administration, Management and staff of the EAC for the completion of the road lighting upgrade and maintenance work with the installation of smart lighting.
In less than five months, the work of replacing a total of 6.168 energy-intensive luminaires with "smart" LED luminaires was completed last March. The project of parameterizing the luminaires and integrating them into the "Smart Lighting" Management Platform is also expected to be completed soon.
The replacement of lighting fixtures with LED fixtures has already qualitatively upgraded the nighttime image of the Municipality, also greatly increasing road safety for pedestrians and drivers using the road network. Of particular importance is also the reduction in electricity consumption, which is at least 50% lower compared to previous ones.
The savings that result per year are enormous, amounting to approximately 2.220.000 kWh, which translates to approximately €478.000 per year. In addition to the economic factor, we also have the environmental factor, as the change reduces carbon dioxide emissions, saves primary energy and thus contributes to the green transition and the development of "smart city" infrastructure.
The Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos, in his brief greeting, expressed his satisfaction and gratitude to the EAC for its valuable contribution to the energy upgrade of the Municipality and its practical support for projects that enhance the daily lives of citizens and contribute to the digital and environmental transformation of the local society.
Subsequently, a greeting on behalf of the EAC was delivered by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. George Petrou, who expressed his satisfaction for the fruitful cooperation with the local government, confirming the EAC's commitment to continuing support for development projects with a positive impact on local communities.
