The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia welcomed on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the Association of Retired Military Officers of Greece in the context of a visit and guided tour of monuments of national importance in the area.
The visit began at the Famagusta Cultural Center in Deryneia, where the members of the Association had the opportunity to see the occupied city of Famagusta and learn about the history of the region, the events of the Turkish invasion and the ongoing state of occupation.

The delegation then visited the 1974 War Memorial at the Deryneia Amphitheater, where a memorial was held to commemorate the sacrifice of the region's fallen soldiers. The tour then continued to the center of Paralimni, to the statue of the hero Tassos Markos, honoring his contribution to the struggle for freedom.

The visit concluded at the monument to the heroes Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomos, where the members of the Association were informed about the tragic events of 1996 and the circumstances of the brutal murder of the two heroes of Paralimni. At the end of the visit, a wreath was laid at the monument, paying tribute to their memory.

The members of the Association expressed their warm thanks to the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia for the informative tour and information about the monuments of national history of the area, as well as for the presentation of the historical route and the Greek identity of the place.
