A large number of children and adults visited on Saturday, April 12, 2025, the Traditional House of Paralimni for the event "Lazarus Saturday at the Traditional House of Paralimni" organized by the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia as part of the events for the Traditional Culture Festival "Voices and Memories" organized by the Municipality from 9 to 30 April 2025. The events lasted from 11 am to 1 pm and consisted of a traditional event of music, flavors and traditional professions for young and old.
The children had the opportunity to make, bake and taste traditional flaunes which they prepared in collaboration with the Center for Offering and Love (KEPA) of Agios Christoforos, tested their pottery skills with potter Christos Askotis, made baskets at the Basketry Workshop, learned about the distillation of zivania with traditional craftsman Athinodoros Georgiou and explored the Traditional House of Paralimni.
The event was attended by the youth group Romiosini Ensemble of the ROMIOSINI Cultural Association with Lazarus Carols from Greece and traditional music, as well as the 21st Paralimni Sea Scouts System, the 112th Deryneia Sea Scouts System and the 291st Paralimni Air Scouts System with traditional games.
In his greeting, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos, welcomed the attendees and invited them to have fun and go through the Festival events as well as the exhibition that has been created in collaboration with the Agios Epiphanios Cultural Academy and is hosted at the Museum of the Church of Saint Anne with free admission until November 30, 2025.
On Palm Sunday, April 13, 2025 at 4 pm at the Xenion Amphitheater in Paralimni, storyteller Marina Katsari and musician Vangelis Gettos will tackle the spirits, the kings and the iron-clad knights of medieval Cyprus and sing their sufferings and exploits in a narration of Medieval Fairy Tales entitled "Medieval Fairy Tales of Cyprus "...where there are nothing but dragons in Cyprus!".
Admission to all Festival events is free.
