At the initiative of the Commissioner for the Protection of the Rights of the Child, Elena Pericleous, a meeting was held on February 11, 2026 between the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. Giorgos Nikolettos, and the Senior Officer of the Commissioner's Office, Dr. Christina Hadjisotiriou.
The purpose of the meeting was to develop cooperation with the Municipality in the context of events for International Children's Day.
The focus of the discussion was the hosting in the Municipality of Paralimni-Dheryne of a children's art exhibition on the theme "The Child's Right to Participation". The exhibition will include works by children from all over Cyprus and will be presented sequentially in all the provinces, as part of the actions for International Children's Day, on June 1st.
At the same time, the prospect of co-organizing a Children's Biennale in Paralimni dedicated to the child's right to participation was examined, which is expected to be the highlight of the Commissioner's Office's actions for the celebration of Children's Day.
The meeting took place in a particularly positive atmosphere, confirming the shared will to promote initiatives that strengthen the voice and participation of children in society.
