A 22-year-old Greek Cypriot was arrested shortly after midnight by members of the Paralimni police station who was spotted driving his vehicle in a residential area at excessive speed and under the influence of alcohol.
Specifically, according to a statement by the Police, at the time in question, members of the Paralimni police station, while conducting a traffic control on the Paralimni - Sotiras Road, stopped the 22-year-old's vehicle for a check, which was being driven at an excessive speed, i.e. 109 instead of 50 MPH.
Then the 22-year-old underwent a preliminary alcohol test with an indication of 63 mg% instead of 22 mg%.
The 22-year-old was arrested for the spontaneous offenses he committed and was taken to the Paralimni Police Station where he underwent a final alcohol test with an indication of 59 mg% instead of 22 mg%.
For the offense of driving under the influence of alcohol against the 22-year-old, an out-of-court fine of 500 euros was issued, while for the offense of driving at excessive speed, he will be summoned to court later.
The Paralimni police station is investigating.
