The Famagusta District Court today issued a decree banning the driving of a motor vehicle to a 42-year-old woman who was found on January 23, 2021 in Paralimni driving under the influence of alcohol after having 119μg% alcohol in her body instead of the maximum 22 μg%.

According to the Police, shortly after eight on the night of January 23, members of the Famagusta Traffic Police stopped a car driven by a 42-year-old woman on a street in Paralimni.

The driver underwent a preliminary alcohol test with a positive result and then a final test with a lower reading of 119μg% instead of 22μg%, which is the permissible limit.

A case was filed against the 42-year-old and today she appeared before the Famagusta District Court, which ordered the woman to sign a personal guarantee of one thousand euros in order to ensure her presence in court on February 25, the date on which the case is set for trial.

The court also issued a decree banning the woman from driving a motor vehicle until the court proceedings are completed.

It is noted that in a statement the Police states that "driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the most serious traffic violations, as it is among the leading causes of serious and deadly traffic accidents. Consumption of alcoholic beverages before driving can reduce the driver's ability to perceive and at the same time increase his reaction time, with the result that the driver is a source of danger, both for himself and for others. road users ".

The Famagusta Traffic Department is investigating the case.
