At around 19:45 today, at the Paralimni Police Station, while two members of the Police were taking up duty, as part of the necessary security measures taken when delivering/receiving weapons, a service weapon discharged, resulting in one member of the Police being injured in the leg.
The police officer was transported by ambulance to Famagusta General Hospital, where it was determined that he had a superficial wound to his left leg. He is expected to have the wound stitched and be discharged.
The Chief of Police gave instructions to investigate the incident.
