PARALIMNI: Handcuffs on a 28-year-old for throwing a grenade

In the context of investigation a grenade launcher in a 50-year-old property in Kapparis on July 26 last year, the Police arrested a person yesterday.

According to the Police, in the context of the investigation of the case, a 28-year-old man from Liopetri was arrested last night with a court warrant, who was taken into custody to facilitate the investigations.

Later today, the 28-year-old will appear before the Famagusta District Court for the issuance of a decree for his detention.

It is recalled that around 02:30 on July 26, 2018, information was received by the Police, about a possible explosion in a specific area in Paralimni.

Men from the TAE Famagusta and firefighters from the Police went to the scene and examinations revealed that a defensive grenade was thrown at the premises.

A few hours later, at around 09:30 in the morning, a 50-year-old man was reported to the Police that the walls of the company's offices, in which he is the manager of two vehicles parked outside the offices, were damaged.

The explosion caused minor damage to the side wall of the premises in both vehicles, one of which is owned by the above company and the second belongs to a vehicle rental company.

Various presumptions were received from the scene, which were sent for scientific examination.

The case is being investigated by the Famagusta Police Department.
