PARALIMNI: Two-day detention for two minors for motorcycle theft

The District Court of Famagusta today issued a two-day detention order against two foreign minors, aged 14 and 15, to facilitate the police investigations into investigated cases of theft, malicious damage and conspiracy to commit a felony, ie robbery.

The offenses were committed during the period October, 2018 and January 2019, in the province of Famagusta.

According to the Police, at around 3.20 yesterday at noon, it was reported to the Paralimni Police Station that a little earlier, two bicycles worth 500 euros had been stolen from the lobby of an apartment building in the province of Famagusta.

About two hours later, during a patrol on a local road, members of the Police located and stopped a 14-year-old man, who was driving one of the two stolen bicycles. The second bicycle was located by the Police in an adjacent park.

During the investigation of the case, a testimony emerged against a 15-year-old man who was located and called to the Paralimni Police Station.

The two minors, in the presence of their parents, confessed to the police the theft of the two bicycles and the theft of a number of mopeds and a motorcycle.

According to the information held by the Police, the two minors are allegedly involved in a total of nine cases of theft of mopeds and motorcycles that were committed during the period October, 2018 and January, 2019, in the province of Famagusta.

The two minors pointed out to the Police various places in the province of Famagusta where five mopeds and a motorcycle that had been stolen were located.

Arrest warrants were obtained against the 14-year-old and the 15-year-old, they were arrested, detained and today they were brought before the Famagusta District Court, which issued a detention order against them for two days.

The case is being investigated by the Paralimni Police Station.
