The anniversary music and dance event was held with great success on July 9, 2024 at the "Kyriakou Pelagia" Municipal Amphitheater in Paralimni as part of the commemoration events for July 9, 1974 and the black summer of the Turkish invasion of 1974 under the title: "Romiosyni en vlya synotziairi of the world" which was co-organized by the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia and the Melizona Choir.
In his greeting, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. Giorgos Nikolettos, referred to the consequences of the Turkish invasion and the tragic events of July and August 1974, as well as the consequences that we are experiencing to this day with the refugees, the missing persons as well as the Turkish invitations of Ankara and the pseudo-state to the occupied territories of the Municipality within the borders of Deryneia.
At the same time, he congratulated the cultural ensembles of the Municipality for the important effort they make to preserve the collective memory and assured once again that the municipal authority will stand as a helper and supporter for all the cultural ensembles of all the municipal apartments.
The event was attended by the Melizona Choir, the Para ti Limni Cultural Workshop, the Paralimni Mandolinata, a full orchestra under the direction of Andreas Karvelas and the soloists Michalis Hatzimihail, Stefanos Pelekanis, Markos Giorgatsos, Theodoulos Papageorgiou, Panagiotis Koumasis and Irini Pelagia.
