The official celebrations for the National Anniversary of the start of the EOKA National Liberation Struggle 1955 were held yesterday in Paralimni. The Solemn Doxology was held at the Metropolitan Church of St. George of Paralimni, officiated by the Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta, Mr. Vasiliou. The Government was represented by the Minister of Health, Mr. Michalis Damianos. This was followed by the laying of wreaths at the EOKA 1955-59 Monument.
This morning, a National Day Parade was held on the main streets of Paralimni by the 21st Sea Scouts and the 291st Air Scouts of Paralimni, as well as by the Catechetical Congregations of the Parishes of Agios Georgios, Agios Dimitrios and Agia Varvara of Paralimni, while a flag-raising ceremony was held with the participation of the "Armonia" Symphony Band of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia.
It is noted that within the framework of the celebrations of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia for the completion of 70 years since the start of the National Liberation Struggle of EOKA 1955, the Municipality organized an event on Monday, March 31, 2025, in the amphitheater of the private school Xenion, at which the excellent performance of the Cultural Association "Romiosini" was presented.
