For the 9th consecutive year, the Diocese of Constantia - Famagusta and the University of Cyprus, organize the Salamis Free University of Famagusta in Paralimni.
A written announcement of the Diocese states that "the goal of the Free University is to inform the general public through popular lectures on current, contemporary and timeless issues. Through this social and cultural institution, the Salamis Free University of Famagusta seeks to contribute to the cultural and spiritual upgrading of the free province of Famagusta ".
Speakers at the Free University are members of the Teaching and Research Staff of the University of Cyprus and other Universities, experts from scientific institutes and organizations, as well as important personalities outside the academic field.
For the academic year 2019-2020, four meetings will take place in the form of a roundtable discussion. In each meeting, two speakers will give a short presentation on a common topic, followed by a discussion.
The first meeting will take place on October 31 at the 5th Cyprus International Book Fair in Metropolis Square in Paralimni, while the next three meetings will take place at the Cultural Center of the Constantia-Famagusta Diocese also in Paralimni.
The lectures will be broadcast live on the website of the Holy Metropolis (www.imconstantias.org.cy), and recorded by the radio station of the University of Cyprus, UCY Voice (95.2 FM).
Upon completion of the lectures, during the closing ceremony, which will take place on May 7, 2020, certificates of attendance will be awarded to members who participated in the institution during the academic year 2019 - 2020.
