The central square of Paralimni was crowded with visitors from the entire province of Famagusta as well as from various regions of Cyprus during last night's (November 19, 2022) lighting event of the Christmas tree and decorations of the Municipality of Paralimni.
The event culminated with the concert with the Greek artist Thanos Kalliris.
The lighting was done jointly by the Metropolitan of Constantia - Famagusta, Vasilios, the Mayor of Paralimni Theodoros Pyrillis, the Mayor of Deryneia Andros Karagiannis, the President of the Community Council of Frenarous, Michalis Hatzigiorkas and the President of the Community Council of Agios Georgios Acheritos, Michalis Kaunas, since the four local authorities will form the new scheme that will come into force from 2024.
In his short greeting, the Mayor of Paralimni did not fail to highlight the personality of the Metropolitan of Constantia - Famagusta, stressing, at the same time, the importance of appointing an Archbishop who is from the province of Famagusta.
At the venue of the event, a Christmas market with food and decorations was set up in the early afternoon, in which organized ensembles and charitable organizations participated. Many activities and special games for the children were also hosted.
At the same time, the Voice and Performance Studio of Ifigenia Christodoulou participated in the artistic program in collaboration with the "Florentia Savva" Conservatory, while the Symphonic Band "Armonia" of the Municipality of Paralimni, held a special musical parade.
The Lighting of the Christmas Tree is part of the Pan-Cypriot campaign of the Anti-Cancer Association and the EAC "Give Light to a Life".
In Mitropoleos Square, the Municipality of Paralimni, like every year and this year, has created the largest indoor event space which will take place on the December weekends before Christmas. Music, songs, theater performances, special activities for children, and events for young and old, together with a Christmas market, will offer a different program for the whole family and will be open to everyone every weekend.
Admission to all events of the Municipality of Paralimni is free.
