With the participation of over two thousand carnivalists in groups and floats and with thousands of visitors, the events for the Famagusta Carnival hosted by the Municipality of Paralimni are expected to peak.

The climax will be with the great Carnival Parade at noon on Sunday, February 26, 2023, in which more than 20 thousand spectators are expected.

At 2:26 p.m. on Sunday, February XNUMX, the ten-day events culminate with the great Carnival Parade, which will start from the XNUMXnd Primary School of Paralimni (gathering area for groups and floats) and will pass through Protaras Avenue and Agios Georgios Square. More than two thousand carnival revelers with marching groups and floats will participate while a large number of visitors are expected. The parade will be opened by a group of cantadores consisting of the Mandolinata of the Municipality of Paralimni and then the float of the King and the Queen with the theme "Musical Carnival". This year's "royal couple" consists of the dance teacher Christiana Siopacha who represents the Frenarous Community and the musician and performer Kostas Florentzou who represents the Community of Agios Georgios Acheritos - Vrysoullon.

The events are organized by the Famagusta Carnival Organizing Committee and hosted by the Municipality of Paralimni.

Road network update

The public is informed that on Sunday, February 26, 2023, during the Famagusta Carnival Parade that will take place in Paralimni, parts of the road network will remain closed.

Road closures

Specifically, from 10:00 in the morning, sections and overpasses of Protara Avenue and Griva Digeni Street will be closed, as well as Agios Georgiou Street with the vertical overpasses. From 12:30 noon, part of Protaras avenue (from the EKO gas station) westwards towards Agios Georgios and up to the junctions of Griva Digeni and Tasos Markou streets will remain closed.

The aforementioned roads will be opened for the passage of vehicles gradually and immediately after the completion of their cleaning by the workers and cleaning crews of the Municipality of Paralimni.

Sections of Acropoleos, Agios Dimitrios, Antonis Papadopoulou, Dimitras, Efesos, Makariou III, Makariou II, Syracuse, Konstantinou Kotziapasii, Sokratous streets and lanes of the street through which the parade will pass will also remain closed.

Vehicle parking

Parking of vehicles on the aforementioned streets during the parade is prohibited.
The parking lots of the Municipality of Paralimni will be available for free parking. The public is invited to observe the instructions of the members of the Police, the members of the Municipality of Paralimni as well as the traffic signals that will be placed and that they do not hinder the work of the coordinators of the parade.

Timely arrival of participants

The participants are informed that the gathering and starting place has been set - as every year - the forecourt of the 10nd Primary Paralimni. Participants with chariots are invited to transport their chariots and park them in the area that will be indicated to them between the hours of 00:11 - 30:26 on the morning of Sunday 2/12 and as the people who will participate come to the area no later than until XNUMX noon, so as not to cause congestion.

The parade will end at Tasou Markou Street where the floats will continue towards 1st of April Avenue where they will depart. Stopping, parking or staying of carnival floats is prohibited.

After entering Griva Digeni street, the participants should depart towards Griva Digeni, Tasou Markos, Acropoleos, Agios Dimitrios or Makarios XNUMX streets and not to gather at the junctions of the above streets so as not to cause congestion.

Rules of participation in the parade

The public is requested to watch the carnival parade following the instructions of the coordinators and not to circulate in the area from which the floats and carnival performers enter.

In the parking lot of the Municipality of Paralimni (Horticultural Association) there will be an ambulance throughout, while Civil Defense First Aid crews will be present in the area.

The participants have been sent instructions, rules and obligations which they must comply with for the proper functioning of the parade.

Finally, the public and the participants are informed that there will be a photographer in the area and the parade will be videotaped.
