The police arrested a 19-year-old resident of Nicosia early today, after he was spotted driving his car at excessive speed.

Specifically, around 3.30 am. today, while members of the Paralimni Police Station were conducting a speed check, on the Protaras - Kavo Greko avenue, they spotted a car moving at a speed of 123 kilometers, while the maximum limit on this particular road is 50 kilometers.

The police officers stopped the vehicle for a check and as it was found that the driver of the car was a 19-year-old resident of Nicosia. As it emerged from the check, the driver was not wearing a seat belt, while the five-seater vehicle was carrying a total of six passengers, with the sixth being in the luggage compartment of the vehicle.

The 19-year-old was arrested for a self-inflicted crime. He was taken to a Police Station, where he was charged in writing and released to appear in Court.

The Paralimni Police Station is investigating the case.
