As reported by Steve Theodoulou, press representative of the Famagusta Police Department "in the context of the organized patrols that are carried out to combat organized crime, at around 05:10 this morning, members of the Paralimni Police Station, while on a motorized patrol in Paralimni, stopped for control of a car driven by a 31-year-old man with a 30-year-old passenger, both residents of Athienou. The police realized that the two men were behaving anxiously while a strong smell of cannabis was coming from inside the vehicle.
He added that "a physical search of the 31-year-old driver revealed a nylon bag with cannabis plant material weighing 3,4857 grams, while a metal grinding mill with a small amount of cannabis plant material was found in the driver's door compartment. Besides, a nylon bag with vegetable cannabis weighing 5,8917 grams was found in the pocket of the passenger door.
The findings "were accepted as evidence, the two men were arrested for the obvious offenses and then taken to the offices of the National Police of Famagusta where they admitted in writing the commission of the offences. The two men, after being accused in writing, were released to be summoned before the Court at a later stage."
The 31-year-old driver was given a positive drug test.
The case is being investigated by the Famagusta District Division of the YCAN and the Paralimni Police Station.
