On Monday, May 20, 2024, the premiere of the final phase of the UEFA EURO UNDER-17 competition was held at the Municipal Stadium of Paralimni "Tassos Markou".
The future stars of European Football will be hosted in six stadiums throughout Cyprus that have been selected by the Cyprus Football Federation (Paralimni Municipal Stadium, Ethniko Achnas Stadium, Ammochostos Stadium, Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium, AEK Arena Stadium and Limassol Stadium). One of them is the Municipal Stadium of Paralimni "Tassos Markou", for which significant improvement works have been carried out both in the turf, as well as in building facilities and infrastructure, in order to meet the strict requirements of UEFA for hosting the biggest football event ever held in Cyprus.
It should be noted, in fact, that the "Tassos Markou" Stadium is the only municipal stadium in Cyprus that has been selected and therefore the hosting of the games in Paralimni is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Paralimni.
During the premiere of the event, on Monday, May 20, the match Serbia - Ukraine was hosted at 18:00 with the "home team" winning with a score of 1-0, with Partizan Belgrade (U-17) football player Dušan Makević as the scorer. .
