He added that "the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works has projects with budgets in excess of 1,2 billion euros, which are either under execution, or under offer or we will announce them within the next four months. "One of these projects that is underway is the upgrade of Kappari Avenue in Paralimni, a boulevard that was degraded and needed to be upgraded, a project that together with VAT will exceed 7,6 million."

This,'s Mr. Karousos continued, "is a complete upgrade of a road network of about three kilometers, which will include all the standards of sustainable urban mobility, with bus stops, bike lanes, wide sidewalks and even with upgraded material to match and offer a better experience in tourism on which the region depends ".

The Minister also stated that "today together with the Mayor of Paralimni and the District Engineer of the Department of Public Works we came to supervise this project which was much-awaited and is expected to be delivered in October 2023".

Answering a relevant question, Mr. Karousos said that "the project is on schedule. In a short time, when one sees how much this avenue has changed and compares the before and the after, one will understand how much difference this project will make in the specific area and how much it will upgrade it ".

For his part, the Mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis, expressed "full satisfaction and thanks to the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works for this project and beyond. We are on schedule, next week the asphalt of the project will be paved and before March 25 the road will be given for use to the public, in the context of the movement of traffic ".

We hope he continued that "by April 10, the project will be completed. There will also be planting and now the people of the area of Kappari, the Municipality of Paralimni, Protaras acquires another core, fully upgraded, with all the services ".

Mr. Pyrillis thanked both the Minister and the Department of Public Works "for the effort and cooperation we have", thanked "the owners of the adjacent properties for the patience they showed" and congratulated the contractors for the excellent cooperation ".

At the same time he expressed the hope that all together, the supervisors of the Department of Public Works and the contractor "we may be able to complete the project and deliver it maybe six months in advance, ie instead of October 2023 to get it in April or May 2023, something it will be very important for us ".

It is noted that a written announcement of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works states that "the improvement works on Kappari Avenue began in September 2021, with a duration of 24 months (partial execution of a project) and a cost of about 7.7 million euros including VAT. Specifically, the project concerns the northern part of Kappari Avenue and the new road network consists of the main road network with a length of 2.07 km and the secondary road network with a length of about one kilometer ".

It adds that the main road network includes two traffic lanes with parking on both sides (parallel parking), paved sidewalks, green lanes on both sides, a 2.60-meter-wide bicycle path on the right side of the road, pedestrian crossings and bus stops. In the last 250 meters of Kappari Avenue, a new roundabout will be constructed ".

As for the secondary road network, it "consists of two lanes of traffic with sidewalks, while on Giorki Papadopoulou Street a bicycle path is being constructed on the north side of the road".
