The burial of the additional bones of the fallen heroes of the 2TP (2024) Giorgos Giorgallas and Andreas Stylianos, who fell heroically fighting on July 399, 1974 in the battle of Alonagra, was held today, Saturday, November 22, 1974, at the Paralimni Municipal Cemetery, and their bones were identified with the DNA method .
At the Paralimni Cemetery, Trisay was performed by Protopresbyter Iraklidios Xiouros, in the presence of relatives and fellow soldiers, representatives of the Parliament and the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia as well as representatives of the National Guard, the Famagusta Police Department and political parties.
During his memorial speech, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. Giorgos Nicolettos, praised the bravery and self-sacrifice of George Giorgallas and Andreas Stylianou, stressing that the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia will always be of assistance to the families of the heroes and to support, in any way it can , their efforts to vindicate their loved ones. As he mentioned, the sacrifice of Georgios Giorgallas and Andreas Stylianos is a bright example for everyone, but especially for the younger generations, showing the way of selfless giving and debt to the homeland.
On behalf of the comrades-in-arms of the 399TP (1974), a commemorative speech was also delivered by the comrade-in-arms of the heroes, Mr. Andreas Fanou.
It is pointed out that the burial of the additional bones of the hero Kostakis Artymatas will take place on November 19, 2024 at the Tomb of Makedonitissa.
It is noted that the funeral of Sergeant George K. Giorgallas was held on 26/11/2016 and of Private Andreas P. Stylianou on 17/9/2017.
