The memorials of the 16 people from Paralimni who lost their lives in the plane crash of August 14, 2005, when the plane of the company "Ilios" in which they were riding, crashed in Grammatiko, Attica, were performed today at the Church of Agios Georgios.
The memorial prayer was chanted in the presence of relatives, friends and associates of the 16 victims, head of the Protosyggelos of the Diocese of Constantia - Famagusta Augustinos Kkara, while the government was represented by Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Kyria.
Due to the measures taken to limit the spread of the coronavirus, wreaths were laid in the church.
Wreaths were presented on behalf of the President by the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Kyriakos Kokkinos, on behalf of the Metropolitan of Constantia - Famagusta Archimandrite Augustinos Kkaras, on behalf of the Mayor Paralimnos A. ELAM, representatives of the Chief of Police and the Chief of GEEF and representatives of the Municipality of Deryneia and the School Tax Office of Paralimni.
It is recalled that the aircraft operating flight HCY522 had 121 people on board, 115 passengers and 6 crew members.
