Church and state pay tribute to the fallen and heroes of the black anniversary 1974
Forty-five years are completed this year by the coup of July 15, 1974 and the barbaric Turkish invasion of July 20, 1974. Forty-five years later, the state and the Church honor again this year those who lost their lives and those who fought for the defense of the homeland.
In Paralimni, of the Divine Liturgy and the memorial service in the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios, the local Metropolitan Mr. Vassilios officiated.
The Government was represented by the Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry Mr. George Lakkotrypis. The commemorative speech was delivered by Adamos Kakouris, Philologist, Assistant Director of Paralimni High School.
A trishagio followed and a prayer was repeated to find the missing as well as to lay wreaths at the Monument of Heroes of Paralimni.
