The event "Nostimon Imar", organized by the students and educational staff of Xenion Education, was attended on Friday, November 29, 2024 by the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, who addressed a greeting.
It is an event dedicated to the black anniversary of 50 years since the barbaric Turkish invasion of 1974, which moved and inspired all who attended.
The Mayor congratulated the contributors for the perfect organization and the sensational presentation. With emblematic sensitivity and respect, as he said, the students highlighted the importance of our memory, culture and history. Such initiatives keep alive the memories of the tragic events, but also the hope for a better future.
He also emphasized that the preservation of historical memory is decisive for the continuation of our struggle for the solution of the Cyprus problem, the return to our ancestral homes and the ascertainment of the fate of our missing persons.
Congratulations, also, to Xenion Education which, through such actions, cultivates love for the homeland and historical consciousness in our young people.
As part of the event, a sculpture exhibition by Filippo Giapani entitled "50 years of memories" was presented at the school, for which Mr. Nicolettos pointed out the important role of the Famagusta sculptor Filippo Yipanis in capturing the history of our country.
The exhibition will be opened on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 19:00 in the event hall of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia by the Deputy Minister of Immigration Mr. Nikolas Ioannidis and the Director of Secondary Education Dr. Nikolas Yasoumis and will remain open to the public until December 11, 2024.
