The final plans for the redevelopment of the new Central Square of Paralimni were presented on Monday, September 28, 2026, by the team of designers before the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, members of the Municipal Council and the Municipal Service.
The Central Square of Paralimni is a project of strategic importance for the Municipality and will include a covered event space, a park, a monument area and extensive tree planting.
The architects' architectural proposal is based on the creation of a central reference point, from which the three churches in the area are visually highlighted, in combination with the imaginary connection of the square with the lake and the sea, through the introduction of a water element.
The new Paralimni Square will have the capacity to accommodate up to 3.500 people, serving events, gatherings and various activities. Particular emphasis was placed on universal accessibility, based on the principle of non-discrimination, so that every citizen can move freely throughout its entire surface, in a friendly and pleasant environment.
Within the framework of the overall design, the harmonious coexistence of the square with the regeneration and paving of the Central Core, as well as with the multi-storey parking lot being constructed next to the Paralimni Municipal Hall as an Urban Planning Project, is envisaged.
These three projects make up a comprehensive urban intervention of European standards, which is expected to upgrade the quality of life of residents, enhance the experience of visitors and become a timeless landmark for Paralimni, highlighting the identity of the city and preserving traditional elements.
The total cost of the project is estimated at €5 million, while the Municipality has already submitted a request for co-financing from the Department of Urban Planning and Housing, with the aim of its inclusion as an Urban Planning Project.
The Planning Permit for the creation of the Paralimni Central Square was issued in February 2026 by the Famagusta Regional Development Authority.
