The presentation of the work and photographic exhibition by Nikolas Loukas entitled "Paralimni Textures" will be presented on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at the Orchard of St. George in Paralimni.
The project Paralimni Textiles is a first attempt to collect and document garments preserved in Paralimni. Clothes, footwear, jewelry and other elements of clothing emerge as important documents of local heritage, weaving bonds and relationships through time.
Through this process, garments are approached not only as objects but also as carriers of the stories and experiences of the people who wore and preserved them, bringing them before us today through their voices and memories.
Clothes and faces are captured by the lens of Nikolas Loukas and presented in a photographic exhibition, which constitutes the main axis of the project. The photographs do not function as simple representations, but as bridges between the past and the present.
The first presentation of the work and the photographic exhibition will take place on Thursday, April 23, at 19:30 PM, at the Orchard of St. George in Paralimni, while the exhibition will then be hosted and will remain open to the public at the Traditional House of Paralimni until Monday, May 18, 2026 (Daily, 08:00 – 15:00 and Saturday / Sunday 10:00 – 15:00). Free admission.
The complex presentation is followed by a musical program by the vocal ensemble "Kalesma" with the musicians: Paris Parascho, Anastasia Zakynthinou, Vasilis Filippou, Frideriki Tombazou, Savvas Lagou, Katerina Paraschou and Charalambos Pantelis.
In the presentation, narratives, audiovisual material and live performances complement the photographs and compose a living ensemble that unfolds the lakeside textures.
At the same time, the material is being used to create a digital collection, with the aim of preserving and promoting lakeside clothing as an element of local cultural identity, creating new perspectives for their enrichment and approach.
The creative concept and research of the project were developed by the "Agios Epiphanios" Cultural Academy and the documentation was carried out by the "Para ti Limni" Cultural Workshop.
The project is being implemented by the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia within the framework of the 2nd Traditional Culture Festival "Voices and Memories" (March - April 2026), which is co-organized with the "Agios Epiphanios" Cultural Academy and is under the auspices of the Deputy Ministry of Culture.
