The concert of the Famagusta Traditional Music Orchestra, conducted by Michalis Kouloumis and with the participation of 30 traditional musical instruments, mainly from the Famagusta district, as well as the participation of the great voices of Katerina Papadopoulou and Petros Kouloumis, took place on the evening of Friday, May 2025, 30, at the Municipal Amphitheater "Kyriakou Pelagia" of Paralimni.
This is an ensemble of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia which was created in 2024 and already has very successful presentations not only in the Famagusta district but also in other districts, while it is the first high-level multi-member orchestra of traditional instruments that has been created.
In his greeting, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos, congratulated conductor Michalis Kouloumis, the members of the Board of Directors and all the musicians for the group's progress and contribution to the promotion of traditional music.
As he mentioned, the existence and dynamic presence of the Orchestra is a source of pride for the Municipality and a living example of how cultural actions can keep our historical and musical heritage alive. He also emphasized that the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia places particular emphasis on cultural development and on supporting initiatives that strengthen local identity and create opportunities for artistic expression, citing as a typical example the now established Festival of Traditional Culture "Voices and Memories", in which the Orchestra has participated with great success.
The concert was held under the auspices of the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos, while the net proceeds were donated to the "Saint Christopher" Center for Offering and Love.
