This is the announcement of the Pancyprian Committee of Professional Beach Lifeguards
Another human life has been saved thanks to the timely intervention of our colleagues. Specifically, yesterday 30/07 at around 15.50, a foreign man aged about 40 years was in danger of drowning on the beach of Fig tree Bay in Protaras.
Our colleagues, after towing the man ashore, proceeded to the immediate provision of first aid. An ambulance was then called for his immediate transport to the Famagusta General Hospital after the man had absorbed a quantity of water.
On the occasion of this new incident, we call on the competent authorities, even the last one, to proceed with the proper manning of the lifeguard points in the area of the Municipality of Paralimni, since it is inconceivable that beaches that receive thousands of people every day are manned by a single lifeguard. If in yesterday's incident there were no 2 lifeguards then most likely today we would not be talking about rescue but about another unjustified loss at sea.
