The Paralimni Police Station is investigating the circumstances of the injury to a 68-year-old tourist from France after a palm tree fell.

Specifically, as first reported by Famagusta.News but also as reported by the Police, around 3 pm on Wednesday (20/7) while the 68-year-old woman was walking with her 77-year-old husband on Vrysoudion Street in the Pernera area of ​​Paralimni, under circumstances that are being investigated, they seem to have entered the courtyard of a restaurant. A palm tree that was in the restaurant area was cut down, under circumstances that are being investigated, and fell on the 68-year-old woman.

Members of the Famagusta Fire Service and the Paralimni Police Station went to the place where they helped free the 68-year-old woman.

The 68-year-old woman was transported by ambulance to Famagusta General Hospital in Paralimni where it was found that she has a fractured femur, broken ribs and a fractured 5th vertebra. The 68-year-old is expected to be admitted to surgery, while her condition does not inspire danger to her life.

As reported by the Police, from the examinations that have been carried out so far, it appears that the owner of the restaurant, in his attempt to cut down the palm tree, fell in such a way, resulting in the injury of the 68-year-old woman.

The Paralimni Police Station is investigating an offense of reckless and negligent acts.
