The contracts were signed today by the company A / foi Iakovou (Constructions) Ltd for the extension of the coastal pedestrian street in Protaras. The project concerns the pedestrian street from the bay of Pernera to the Fishing Shelter of Agios Nikolaos and from Fig Tree Bay to the point before the beach "Vali tou X''Xeni".
These sections of the sidewalk will be made with the same specifications and similar (technical) equipment to the existing ones. The total cost of the project amounts to € 5.700.000. The works start immediately and are expected to be completed by the end of March 2021. With the completion of the project, the coastal front of Protaras will have a completed coastal sidewalk with all the amenities and lighting of a length of 11 km.
At the same time, the Municipality of Paralimni proceeded to the planning of phases D and E of the coastal pedestrian road that concern the areas of Agios Nikolaos up to the line of confrontation / United Nations outpost and the beach "Vali tou X''Xeni" up to the area of Konnos respectively. For the new phases the width of the coastal sidewalk will be 8 m of which 5m will be for pedestrians and 3m for cyclists.
Our goal is to unify, upgrade and modernize the entire coastal front tailored to the needs of locals and visitors. The total route is around 25 km. We adapt to the needs of sustainable mobility by promoting the use of alternative means of transportation, which contribute to the reduction of pollutants and, more broadly, to the protection of the environment.
The beach promenade is truly masterfully easy to use since it now offers a generous opportunity to every visitor, local or tourist, during the summer or winter months to enjoy walking or jogging by the clear blue waters of the sea listening to the sounds of the waves and explore more safely the enchanting beaches of the area that were previously neglected.
